ACCIDENT REPAIR CENTRE SEES THE LIGHT
Improved lighting levels and significant energy savings were realised when Basingstoke Accident Repair Centre invested in a new lighting system by Hilclare – the leading Manchester-based commercial lighting specialist that forms part of the newly-formed Pilot Group Infrastructure.
Industrial Domestic Electric Services (IDES) based in Rawtenstall, Lancashire was responsible for the installation, and a combination of Hilclare’s 226W LED Varas were installed in the Accident Repair Centre, along with 95W Autolux Bodyshop luminaires by IDES. Utilising the very latest in LED technology, the new system provides an excellent quality of light and boasts efficiency that is well above the regulatory requirements, which is around 50% more efficient than fluorescent tube equivalents.
Following installation, the new system was able to achieve 1,000 lux at floor level, whereas previously the lux levels were only 500-600. Not only that, both solutions deliver over 40% energy savings and offer a low maintenance solution for the future.
Commenting on the installation, James Freeman from IDES, said:
“We pride ourselves on our high quality installs, and we fully met the client’s brief for accurate lighting to enable engineers to clearly see blemishes and finishes on cars, and to carry out any mechanical work. As well as producing the correct light levels required by their workshops, the new system will bring low maintenance and reduced energy bills for years to come. Altogether, it’s a win-win.”
Chris Pearson, Managing Director at Hilclare commented:
“The LEDs used in this project are perfect for body shops and repair centres and give a uniform distribution of light that helps to minimise hot-spots and shadows. We are proud to have teamed up with Industrial Domestic Electric Services (IDES) to provide this outstanding solution.”
