What does Made in Britain mean?
‘Made in Britain’ is a symbol and wording many of us come across day to day in the UK manufacturing and supplier world. But what does it actually mean?
Made in Britain is a not-for-profit organisation that supports British manufacturers under a single, registered collective mark. The mark represents a standard of quality and unity for the British manufacturing sector within The UK and around the world.
The term ‘Made in Britain’ is not just a slogan to identify how a product has been crafted and developed in Britain, it is much more than that. This marque represents a standard of quality, prestige, and unity for the British manufacturing sector within the UK, both domestically and around the globe.
How businesses become mark holders of the Made in Britain accreditation
All businesses that apply to use the Made in Britain mark must provide evidence that their products are manufactured or have undergone a final substantial change in Britain.
Appointed representatives of Made in Britain may visit mark holders premises to inspect premises, British Products and the use of marks. Mark holders are also required to be open to demonstrate to the general public exactly how their British Products are made.
Once passing the rigorous accreditation process businesses must obey the strict code of conduct for the duration of their membership. This unites members behind the highest business standards including compliance with Diversity, Anti-Money Laundering, Diversity, Equality, Anti-Slavery, and Health and Safety principles.
